I ordered a helf-shell, finally, from Leatherup.com.
I bought the "Outlaw Insane Clowns Half Helmet":
I wore it for a few hours to get a good feel for it; how it would "wear" on me for extended riding and such.

After wearing a full-face helmet for 3 years, it was a definite change for me, having only the top of the helmet, as it were, sitting on my head.
I wear foam earplugs to protect my hearing -- trust me, at speeds over 45mph, you want some type of sound muting. The rush of air at that speed and above will cause hearing damage.
I alternate between them (earplugs) and noise cancelling earphones to listen to music.
As side remark about earphones - Sony makes among the best noise-canceling earphones. For the price, anyway.
All in all, I enjoyed wearing my helmet on its maiden ride with me.
Did I mention that I was able to get it for about $8.00 out-of-pocket?
Nothing like a little ingenuity in applying some article money and discount codese to knock down the price, heh heh.
