Yup, that's right, boy and girls, yours truly spent the weekend doing the basic motorcycle safety course at a location just north of downtown Denton, Tx.
Dare I say that I ranked 1st in the class? I dare! I dare!.
It was actually a lot of fun.
Although, there were some people among the class attendees that would probably benefit from not partaking of a motorcycle...not even as a passenger.
One fellow, nice though he was, did not have the, what would you call it, awareness that is so necessary when riding.
Another guy seemed to go from ok, to damned nearly clueless as the riding practices continued!
Extended News
At one point, 2 of these duh-I-should-not-be-allowed-to-roam-outside-my-house-without-a-helmet idiots nearly collided head-on!
How in the hell do you manage that? On an otherwise empty parking lot?
Amazingly enough, everyone passed and received the certificate of completion, today.
Only once was a motorcycle droped onto its side...the fellow failed to place the side-stand down properly and walked away. cr-ASH!
His reaction? Darn, did I do that?
...God help us all.
I'm glad that the majority of these folk -- there were 7 of us in all taking the course -- are from parts far away, like Sherman, Tx and the like.
I would not want to have to deal with their dumb-ass riding styles. Nor would you!
But, much like the countless freakin' most-ons (you know, beyond mor-ons) that somehow manage to recieve a license to drive, it's a fact of life that the courses, examns and the like are not capable of weeding out these accidents waiting to happen.
I can tell you that I did learn a few things that I had not already taught myself. They were only a couple of things. Really.
I'll be writing up a follow-up article on my Examiner.com page and include a few snap shot pictures I took with my phone.
Be sure to watch for it in the coming days.
I'll even post a link to it, here.
Til then, see ya around the next curve...
