Is there ever enough time? |
|
Hi there, boys and girls. It's been about 76 days since my last confession...wait, huh?
That is to say, 76 days since my last journal post. A lot of stuff's gone on in the interim. Stuff that wasn't exactly personal but that involved me personally.
I seem to most more often on Facebook (I know, and shut up!) since there appears to be an easier access by those that deem me relevant enough to want to see what the fuck I'm up to on a fairly regular basis.
But getting back to things that have happened and stuff... |
|
I ordered a helf-shell, finally, from Leatherup.com.
I bought the "Outlaw Insane Clowns Half Helmet":

I wore it for a few hours to get a good feel for it; how it would "wear" on me for extended riding and such. |

Well, the reCaptcha module is on hold indefenitely due to some unexpected glitches I hope to have resolved at some point.
A new Newsletter panel has been added - you must be a registered member to see it - by default you will be subscribed and will receive the newsletter in your email...assuming I figure out how to send out that newsletter! Of course, you can UNsubscribe at your discretion, though I know none of you will do that, right? Right?
I have also added a scrolling shout-box modification to add a little eye-candy to the main page.
I invite you to add any comments, suggestions, critiques, etc.

Working on Registration - Sorry for any Problems |
|
A quick note to inform you all that I am currently implementing a reCAPTCHA module into the registration and commenting systems on the site.
This may cause some of you to encounter problems while registering -- as in, the captcha part may not be visible to you, preventing the registration from taking place.
I will be working to fix this and have it functioning as it should ASAP.
Til then, please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. |

NEW: WAP Enable Site Access! |
|
That's right, boys and girls - I've recently added a new module to the site permitting you to visit it via your mobile phone.
I'll be tweaking a few things, to make it look better as we go along, but for now you can already access it by pointng your mobile phone's browser to:
http://www.vernon-klein.com/wap/
Do let me know if you come across any weirdness, etc, when browsing the site in this fashion.
enjoy! |

Motorcycle Safety Course: Completed! |
|
Yup, that's right, boy and girls, yours truly spent the weekend doing the basic motorcycle safety course at a location just north of downtown Denton, Tx.
Dare I say that I ranked 1st in the class? I dare! I dare!.
It was actually a lot of fun.
Although, there were some people among the class attendees that would probably benefit from not partaking of a motorcycle...not even as a passenger.
One fellow, nice though he was, did not have the, what would you call it, awareness that is so necessary when riding.
Another guy seemed to go from ok, to damned nearly clueless as the riding practices continued! |
|
Wow. I tallied an approximate mileage driven and ridden to and from what will be my old place of work after today.
On my car, which I purchased in May of 2009, I have driven about 16,000 miles. That is all I use the car for: commuting to work. My motorcycle took the brunt of of my commuting over the first year and 10 months I worked here: 22,318 miles. That's a butt-load of miles for a bike.
So much for re-sale value on either vehicle!
I'm looking forward to the new 20-minutes-or-less commute...in heavy traffic! The commute is about 35 miles or so. What will it be like to regain almost 3 hours of my day that I normally spend sitting in traffic?
I don't know either, but I look forward to finding out.
I'll keep y'all posted |

After almost 2 and a half years, I have decided to leave my current employer.
The company is decent; well structured and appears to have genuine interest in seeing its employees happy.
But there are always caveats, exceptions and the like.

Making it official: Taking the Motorcycle Safety Course |
|
That's right, boys and girls, yours truly is officially signed up to take the motorcycle safety course.
After completion and all that jazz I may also inquire about becoming an instructor. What better reason to constantly talk about motorcycles!
My course date is March 27 and 28; a 2-day course.
If I can, I'll snap some pics while attending and post them.
Man, anything to do with bikes and I'm chomping at the bit... |

Another year and finally, another dollar |
|
I finally get a review from my employer - it's just this side of "stellar" to quote the remark made.
Yet my weak area is my level of verbal articulation - in simple terms, I speak at such a high level (perhaps without realizing it) that those whom I address feel I am speaking down to them.
At least, that is what was conveyed to me.
Well, fuck me inside out.
I thought I was doing well there - heck, I've always aimed my contributions (regardless of what they are) toward the 5th grader audience when training, addressing a support issue, speaking to a corporate entiity... I guess that was not low-level enough. |

Ok, not right away, mind you.
I am planning on making a few motorcycle road trips to a couple of destinations.
Among them, cities along the Mexican border like Laredo, Brownsville, South Padre Island.
Other places that are up for consideration:
Clarendon, Tx as suggested by fellow rider, Brandon (call me Sha-poopy!) Selvidge.
Denver, Co though the event/meet-up is in its infancy, as suggested by Mark Poesch, DC Motorcycle Travel Examiner
Austin, Tx for the big shindig that happens there every year.
If you're interested in joining me for any of these rides, please take a minute to register here, then post in the Discussion forums under each road trip discussion.
Each destination will have its own thread for planning, etc.
Not sure how to prepare for a road trip? Visit my posted articles as the Dallas Motorcycle Travel Examiner and be an informed rider! |
