To Bitch, or Not To Bitch
JournalYou see, while it is a decent environment, with its challenges and whatnot, the whole support entitiy itself leaves much to be desired.

For those among you that feel having a static, predictable job is good, then this place would be it for you.

Thing is, it's too damned predicatable!  It's almost stagnant in its nature - and those that are in a supervisory or managerial position may appeart o want you to "succeed' (though I have no idea what the hell they are implying with that anymore), you eventually discover that you are not going anywhere except within the same department, for the same pay, only with added responsabilities.

In short, it sucks ass.

About every 2 or 3 months, things get shuffled around - all these poeple, these techs, get moved into different teams; they are groups focused on which ever support client has been bitching the most.  They focus on getting this client's problems resolved.  And when things are at a satisfactory level the techs are shuffled again.

It's an ideal way of "changing things up" to keep you from getting so bored with things that sticking metal objects into live electrical sockets begins to sound appealing.
The BIG problem with all that is there is a flimsy recognition system in place, and it's one that will not have you getting a promotion, or even a damned raise.
I know, I have yet to receive a raise.

Nevermind that I am cited as having an exemplory support methodology, or that I can address any -- that's ANY -- pissed or irate client's problem and have them calm and even enthusiastic about us resolving their problems; nevermind that I am a Senior support tech - regular techs may go at least a year before they are even considered for that title - And I was brought in as that from day one!

Bah, why even complain, right?  Maybe I'm just blowing my own horn of pity, right?

Well, my response to that: fuck it.  Fuck the company for allowing its management to use bullshit on its deserving employees and keeping them from progressing beyond the support department.

I'm looking for a new place to bitch about...ok, a new place to work actually.
If I did not take my carees so seriously, practice professional integrity, I would have told this company to go to hell a long time ago.

So, with integrity, I will find a new position with what I hope are more sincere employers, and earn the same if not better living.

I'll update you when things change - til then...I will try not to bitch so much.
