Welcome to my Online home!
Oliver: 2004~2008
JournalIt is with no small sadness that I inform you that one of my 2 beloved dogs died today, at approximately 7:20pm.

Rabbits have been a recurring pest around my neighborhood. And as of this year they have taken to sneaking in to our back yard and hiding under the wooden deck off oour patio.

Our dogs (a 85 pound Weimereiner and a 27 pound Jack Russell Terrier) caught a rabbit over the summer and killed it - yeah, big mess and my sweet Tonya had to deal with the aftermath while I was at work.
I mention this because after that day they would go berserk when they caught the scent of a rabbit under the deck.

Fast forward to today.

Tonya was preparing to go see the knee doctor about 2:30 when she heard the dogs outside going at it, both growling and yelping and shit.
Is there Ever Enough Time?
JournalAs some of you may know, I have been authoring stories for some time (think since about puberty).

I have had what I believe to some pretty unique story lines; plots, if you will.
Some of them I decided were not enticing or interesting enough to pursue in an earnest effort.

But then there are those story ideas that I did find fascinating. Fascinating enough, scary enough, dark or light enough to merit my time and my attention to fleshing them out.

Over the years (yes, in some cases it's been years) that I have been slowly adding characters, content, conflict, absolution, etc, I find that unless I can sit there, uninterrupted, until that next chapter has been committed to paper, it quickly becomes challenging to even finish that particular chapter.
Site Upgrade
ThemesJust a quick note that (a), I decided to just keep PHP-Fusion as my portal script, etc.
And (b), I've upgraded the site to the latest version, 7.

I'm still playing with a few things, but with the addition of mp3 player capabilities and other neat features, I'm thinking I may have decided on the best solution at this time for my site.

Now, if I could just decide on what i wan to do with my other sites:
October? What happened to September?!?
JournalI mean that: what happened to September?
Life has a way of distracting you while allowing time to rush by, sometimes hours seem like minutes...sometimes weeks seem like, well, you get the idea.

It's only because I noticed the last entry here that I realize it's been over a month since I posted anything.

And no, I'm not posting this to justify me posting something!

Let's see...
I've begun in earnest to brew beer (only 1 batch thus far) with my colleague Brad "Beer Bitches & Bikes" who has been brewing for about 7 years, now.
Cancun: Post-Mortem
JournalHi, there.
It's Sunday night, almost Monday. Tonya and I returned Saturday from a 4-day stay in Cancun.

T'was a decent stay there on the famous Mexican resort town in the Yucatan peninsula.
I have to tell you, all-inclusive may have its perks like getting what you want when you want (provided you remain on the hotel grounds, etc) and not having to pay 'cause it's all-inclusive

But there is much to be said for simply finding a decent hotel, pay for your food, and explore what that resort has to offer.

In Cancun, things can get pricey...in a hurry.
Monday Morning Musings
Journal*yawn*...

Mm. Coffee. Good.
It's Monday, which is fine for me; I don't work Sundays or Mondays. I am still up at the ass-crack of dawn. Tonya does have to work, so I rise at about 5:00AM and make us good strong coffee. That and it just keeps my clock consistent since I usually rise even earlier (4:30AM) so I can be ready for the daily commute to work.

I spent the weekend in Mexico as Tonya and I attended my kid sister's wedding reception.
It was nice. My sister was genuinely happy. The new brother-in-law seemed a little shy around me considering I had not met the man until the evening of the reception, but still it was ok.
New Story Added, Plus Some Prose
JournalJust a short note to let you all know that I've added a 3rd story, and a few poems that I've written.

Yes, I do write poetry. Whatcha gonna do about? Right, I thought so.

Anyway, here's linkage to the StoryMash.com profile: Victor Mensa

What, I use that pen name to avoid the masses from harassing me and stuff!

Anyway, have a look, have a read. If you like what you see there, please post a comment - it will be greatly appreciated.
Is it that time again?
JournalI've toying with the notion (again) of looking for yet another replacement to this my blog/site/portal/pain-in-the-ass-why-the-fuck-don't-they-design-a-easy-to-administer-damned-CMS-or-portal.

I mean, really - yeah, this is good for posting my musings, my bullshit. And it allows showing off my pictures and stuff.

But I want to be able to modify my site's graphics...MY WAY. And I'd like that to be somewhat easy to accomplish, either through not-so-rigidly-structured CSS, whatnot.

Of course, there's the whole let's evaluate all the shit scripts out there, and try and guess which one isn't being hacked all to fuck on a weekly basis.
Quick FYI: Bike Pix
GraphicsI decided to wash my bike a couple of days ago. Twas a hot-ass bitch, too, that day.

Anyway, after slaving away for about an hour or so wiping down every visible droplet of the quickly evaporating water before it a water spot I decided to snap a few pictures with my old Sony digital camera.

You can see the images scrolling over on your right. Just click on them to view a larger version.
You can also visit my small yet growing images gallery. You'll find that link over on the left navigation bar.

Enjoy!
After 2 Years in the U.K. My Favorite Marine Returns to the U.S.A.
JournalYou heard right. Corporal Christina R. Klein will be stationed at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, CA at year's end.

Needless to say, I am ecstatic at the news.

She will be there for 3 years, after which who knows.
But at least now I have excuses to travel to Cali. Oh, that is not to say my brother of another mother isn't reason enough. Let's just say that the incentive is that much stronger now.

I'm gonna have to convince my girl to go and get herself a sweet bitch of a motorcycle once she's settled in. Then I'll ride down there and cruise the shorelines with her, Brad and the rest of the Cali Crew! *Cue the Easy Rider song, bitches!*
Introducing: Victor Mensa, my Pen Name
JournalWell, after some deliberation and the need for a reason to get things rolling, I went ahead and submitted 2 of my stories (at least, their beginnings) at Story Mash. It a place where anyone can start a story, add chapters to it, etc. But the cool thing is, anyone else can branch off of your initial chapter (or any other chapter that has been published there on).
So, while your story time line continues along its own path, other "authors" can diverge from it by adding their own chapters.
Your story could end up with 19 chapter 2's, 6 chapter 3's, and so on.

Which are my stories, you ask?
Memoir Blues of a Chaos God
and
Lord of Dead Things

Both of these stories have been hanging around my "Stories in waiting" section for some time.
